Brady's Planting Guide

Chokeberry (Aronia)

Chokeberry shrubs are very hardy (to zone 3) and have tasty but dry berries; I
personally love them! They are semi-sweet, dark black color and are great
for jellies, jams, juice and baking!  Here is something cool; the leaves turn
brilliant red, burgundy and yellow in the fall.  Useful and beautiful, moderate
water, grows 6-8' tall and equally wide.  Great for a hedge.

Fothergilla (Bottlebrush)
This shrub is gaining popularity because of its season long variety of colors.
In the spring bottlebrush shaped white flowers cover the entire bush.  Thick
leathery leaves remain in the summer.  The show really starts in the fall,
when the leaves turn yellow, burgundy, and red.  Totally gorgeous, my number
1 pick of any plant for fall color!  If you don't have one, you need to come in and
get one before they're gone! Zone 5, moderate water, partial sun.
